Who is the programme for? This programme is for anyone, both school-leavers and adults, who wish to gain qualifications which will enable them to work in areas such as landscaping, parks and gardens, sports turf or horticultural garden centres. Unemployed adults may be able to study the "Routes to Success" pathway, which means they may be entitled to an additional training payment and help with travel costs.

What will I study? Three compulsory units of study are required to achieve the NVQ Level 1 which are as follows:- *Maintain Health and Safety Working Practices *Assist with Establishing Plants *Assist with Maintaining Plants as well as three optional units:- *Assist with Propogation of Plants by Seed *Assist with Propogation of Plants by Vegetative Methods *Assist with Identifying the Presence of and Controlling Common Pests and Diseases.

Entry to the Programme?

How is it assessed? Assessments are continuous and are undertaken in such a way that students are allowed to work at their own pace. There are no written examinations at the end of the programme as it is practically based.

Future prospects? On completion you can progress to the NVQ Level 2 programme. Alternatively you could gain employment in areas such as parks, sports grounds, golf courses and with landscape gardeners.

When will the programme start? You can enrol on this programme at any time of the year.

How long will it take? You can choose to study from one of the following:- * 2 and a half days (15 hours) per week for 36 weeks or * 1 day per week for 72 weeks or * 2 evenings per week (Mon and Wed) for 72 weeks

What about the Money? If you are under 19 on 31st August 2009 you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees. If you are over 19 years of age
