What I would highlight: I love learning and getting excited about achievement! The course is very well structured and comprehensive, i felt that the activities all linked together especially when i started my my practical assingments which i throughly enjoyed! I havent used skype before training with Bright but after a little bit of help i now use it all the time so Thank you for everything Bright!

What I would highlight: Ive wanted to become an assessor for a few years now but never got round to applying to get the qualification. Now i have, i am happy i waited to train with Bright as the course was very enjoyable and gave me a good feel about becoming an assessor. My mentor was very reliable and always available to help me.

What I would highlight: I liked the flexibilty of undertaking the programme to fit in with my family commitments. I also found that being able to go back over material via the online study provided more focus and enabled me to refresh just those areas that i felt unsure about.

What I would highlight: The staff are friendly. Once you sign up you have access to the online system to work through the qualification. This is made up of small PowerPoint like presentations and downloadable documents. There are then tasks to complete and send to your mentor. You have a mentor available who contacts you to introduce themselves and then you can contact them if you need help. I found the online presentations and downloadables to have several spelling errors which Bright need to address as it appears unprofessional for a training provider to be this imprecise. The guidance for the tasks could be improved as you receive feedback to tell you what has been missed but the task guidance does not give this information initially which would save time. However, by the time you have completed the award with them I believe you are very prepared as an Assessor and they do train you properly and ensure you are competent before passing you. One gripe I have is that they advertise that they can provide the 2 local candidates needed to qualify. Perhaps it was my fault for assuming but I expected to have 2 local candidates in my sector. But what I actually got were 2 Bright Customer Service learners to assess remotely via Skype. This isn't my sector and they aren't local!. What I will say though is there were no shortcuts with the practical assessments and it all had to be done properly so I am prepared for working as an Assessor. I am yet to secure a job and I know several others are having similar problems because employers want you to be experienced.

Course programme

NVQ Assessor course-level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement Qcf replaces the A1 assessor award.

NEW Assessors Award- FULL Certificate (15 credits)

Two REAL learners provided for all units required to complete your Assessor Training. If you wish to, you may complete this within your own workplace.

Unit 1: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (3 Credits)
Unit 2: Assess Occupational competance in the work environment (6 Credits)
Unit 3: Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding (6 Credits)

Course delivery

Upon registeration, you are given your moodle log in and the contact details of your mentor

Your mentor will contact you within 48 hours to introduce themself

You will work through a series of modules online that include activities, questions and reading.

Once completed, you will attend 2 visits with your mentor to the two candidates where you will complete workplace observation and set questions, a range of knowledge tasks and assignments. You will complete assessment planning and feedback.

During one of the visits you will be observed by your mentor and feedback will be given to you.

You will then complete further tasks and build your portfolio with the help of your mentor.

This is then submitted for verification.

Once you have completed your assessor training we then help you to find work through our partner providers and recruitment agencies.
