Who is the course for?
If you have at least 3 GCSEs at Grade C or above including Maths and English and you achieve a good level on the initial assessment test you will be considered to go on the Level 2 Beauty Therapy. There is a selection process on successful completion of Level 1 Beauty Therapy.

What is the course about?
Here is an outline of the units you will be required to pass both in practical and theory:

Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health & safety
Fulfil salon reception duties
Promote additional products and services to clients
Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
Improve and maintain facial skin condition
Provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments
Remove hair using waxing techniques
Provide manicure treatment
Provide pedicure treatment
Provide makeup treatment
Anatomy and Physiology

Will I need anything else?
Overall, kit and text book - details to be advised at college. Full length plain black trousers, full black low heeled shoes, camera with flash for photographic evidence, lever arch file, plastic wallets, dividers, 3.5 floppy disk and other various items of stationery, i.e. pens etc.

How long & often do I attend?
The course is over 3 days a week for 32 weeks. You will be required to attend for a minimum of 90% of the course hours.

How will I be assessed?
For each unit you will be required to complete an end of unit test or type an assignment. For all practical units you will be assessed in a realistic working environment on paying members of the public. Evidence in the form of treatment plans and photographs will need to be presented in a portfolio of evidence. You may also be required to attend on the day of the External Verifier visit.

What opportunities will this lead to?
Level 3 Beauty Therapy (via a selection process) or work as a mobile therapist. You may wish to apply for employment in beauty salons or for a cosmetic company.

Level 2 Diploma in Holistic Therapies, Body Massage, Nail Technology, Theatrical & Media Makeup, Indian Head Massage, Level 3 Diploma Reflexology, Hairdressing Levels 1 and 2.
