What will I study?
Hugh Baird College offers a training programme for students wishing to enter barbering as a new career. There are tremendous opportunities for career developments in High Street Salons, Department Stores, Hotels and Hospitals, Health Farms and Leisure Centres. The training hours are 13 hours a week and should not affect benefits.

How can I progress?
Improved employment prospects.

What will I need to qualify for this course?
In order to qualify for this course an NVQ Level 2 is a pre-requiste. Formal interview, successful completion of a skills test is also needed. Students will also need a uniform, a kit and suitable footwear for use in the salon. A minimum of 90% attendance is required.

Course Structure
In order to gain a full NVQ Level 3 qualification, ALL MANDATORY Units must be completed. Mandatory; *Monitor procedures to safely control work operations, *Promote additional services or products to clients, *Provide hairdressing consultation services, *Design and create a range of facial hair shapes, *Creatively cut hair using a combination of barbering techniques. Optional; *Design and create patterns in hair, *Develop and enhance your creative hairdressing skills, *Colour hair using a variety of techniques, *Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities, *Provide shaving services.
