Is the course for me?
This qualification is for goods' vehicle drivers who are able to show the minimum level of occupational competence required for a goods' vehicle driver. This competence is more than that required by the relevant statutory driving test, as it includes competences in pre-driving checks (including the use of tachographs) and monitoring the loading of goods. Driving skills need to be shown whilst driving a goods' vehicle that is laden with your typical load. You are required to drive safely and with acceptable wear and tear on the vehicle.

What will I learn?
Your assessor will closely observe your job performance, and identify any areas where you can improve. S/he will advise you on training, which can improve your skills and knowledge, and increase your efficiency and confidence within your role. Any training that is identified will be carried out on site, or arrangements will be made for you to attend course at the business school or another appropriate location.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is the process used to judge your competence at work. The assessor is usually the person who is responsible for providing training to the learner, and who has the greatest number of opportunities to observe your performance. You will be assessed by observation and questioning to prove compentcy and industry knowledge. Dates for assessment are agreed in advance with you, your employer and the assessor. On completion of the level 2 in Driving Goods Vehicles NVQ it is possible to progress onto the level 3 in Driving Goods Vehicles.
