NVQ Food Preparation & Cooking - Level 1
Level 1 Wisemore Campus 1 Year Full Time

This course is designed as an introduction to craft based skills in both food preparation and cooking and food and beverage service. The course provides an introduction to the catering and hospitality industry.

Topic areas cover the basic skills required together with the relevant Health & Safety aspects. Learners will gain experience whilst training in the college's professional kitchens and commercial restaurant. Opportunities are normally available to undertake supervised off-site work experience with a renowned employer during their course. Off-site visits, as relevant and appropriate to the course, can be planned to enable learners to see at first hand, the daily work of a hospitality outlet. Visiting speakers are arranged, too, in accordance with programme needs; either as a separate course related activity or to complement the college wide provision of career awareness activities. Homework or private study is required.
