Learning Mentoring (Level 3)

Who is this Vocational Qualification for?

Anybody who works with children in a one-to-one or supportive role, for example SENCOs in schools. It ensures that candidates are equipped to support the learning of individuals and provides a framework to develop best practice in terms of equality of opportunity, diversity and quality of service provision.

What is this training about?

As a work-based qualification, our training and assessing occurs at the Candidates place of work. Our NVQs are designed to improve the effectiveness of your organisation by recognising a candidate’s skills gaps and then tailoring a programme to fill any gaps with quality training.

It is a modular qualification made up of nine units: seven mandatory and two optional (the most relevant optional units can be selected according to a candidate’s individual role).

Mandatory Units:

  • Contribute to the protection of children and young people from abuse
  • Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
  • Review own contribution to the service
  • Enable children and young people to find out about and use services and facilities
  • Operate within networks
  • Facilitate children and young people’s learning and development through mentoring
  • Support the child or young person’s successful transfer and transition in learning and development contexts

Optional Units:

  • Facilitate children and young people’s learning and development through mentoring
  • Support the child or young person’s successful transfer and transition in learning and development contexts
  • Enable young people to use their learning to enhance their future development
  • Encourage young people to develop and maintain a positive sense of self and identity
  • Promote and maximise educational opportunities and achievements for individual children and young people
  • Create a climate that promotes learning
