NVQ Level 1 in Food Preparation and Cookery (Full-time)(2010/2011)
Study Method:
This is a very practically based course. Various study methods are used, including practical catering and patisserie classroom activities, formal class meetings, project work and discussion groups. Students will be expected to work in the Training Kitchen, Bakery and the "Bistro" Restaurant as part of their course.
Duration :One year full-time
Who the Course is For:
This one year course is for those who wish to take an initial qualification and follow a career in the Hospitality and Catering industries. It is anticipated that most students will continue thier studies at NVQ Level 2.
Assessment:
Courses are assessed according to the NVQ system of "Realistic Working Environments". The students will be expected to produce a range of food for service in the "Bistro" Restaurant.
Course Leads To:
There are a variety of career opportunities available to successful students. These include working as a commis chef in Hotels, Restaurants, Bistros or Brasseries. Employment can also be secured as a Cook in Hospitals, Residential Homes, Cafeterias or Cafes.
