Course Content: This course is ideal for people who wish to pursue a career within the travel and tourism industry, or who are planning a career change or simply just want to enhance their qualifications.
Throughout this course you will study UK and Worldwide Travel Geography; help customers to choose and book a holiday or flight; Providing Travel Information; Assisting and preparing window displays; Travel Law/Legislation and Customer Care. This course will provide you with a broad understanding of the Travel and Tourism Industry, covering all aspects of Travel agencies, preparing for the world of work in this area or for further study in this area or a more specialist area.
The college also enhances your qualification and chance of employment by providing you with the opportunity to work in the colleges Travel Agent, â€-Tameside Travel. A key feature of this programme, Tameside Travel gives you an insight into and experience of the activities carried out within a professional environment as you carry out the day to day duties required in such a career. You will also be required to find a two week work placement within a Travel Agency to enhance your learning.
Alongside your NVQ programme you will study the BTEC Certificate in Travel and Tourism

Special Features: During the course you will benefit from working for Tameside Travel at Tameside College and will take part in visits to places connected with the travel industry. You will go on several trips, where you will see first hand how functions work in industry. Trips include visits to Manchester Holiday Show and the possibility of visiting a cruise liner. We do ask for a contribution towards your educational trips and uniform of £200 which is payable at the beginning of the term.
You will be required to wear a uniform whilst working in Tameside Travel which will consist of black trousers or skirt, appropriate black work shoes and a blouse/shirt. This blouse/shirt needs to be purchased in advance from the college. Details of this will be given before the term commences.
Progression: On successful completion of the course you will have the option of furthering your studies and completing a BTEC National Diploma Level 3 in Travel and Tourism or Aviation Operations (available at the college) or you also have the option of progressing straight into employment on completion of this course.
