Course Content: Throughout this course you will develop a range of skills and knowledge in Beauty Therapy, preparing you for a rewarding career in helping people to look and feel good. You will complete practical work in all of the following areas, with some requiring written assignments to be completed; Manicure; Pedicure; Make-up; Waxing; Facial; Lash and Brow; Reception; and Health and Safety. You will learn each of these areas through practical work experience in our commercial Beauty Salons, situated on-site and open to the public, giving you and insight into the exciting and satisfying career path you have chosen.

You will learn a combination of practical skills and theoretical knowledge, and you will be continually assessed through practical and written questions and the completion of a Portfolio of work by the end of the course. During the year you will cover Key Skills (Literacy, Numeracy and I.T.)

Special Features: You will be continually assessed throughout your course on practical skills, written work and an assignment. Your skills will be assessed in a work based environment. Relevant theoretical knowledge is an integral part of each unit, and will be assessed by on line exams.

You will require some personal equipment for all aspects of practical work.

You will gain experience in The Elysium Centre, where you will gain valuable experience in a real working environment. You will also be trained on up-to-date facilities in this department. You will also participate in work placement for one week of the year.

**Your timetable will include one late night per week, finishing around 9.00pm**

Progression: Once you have completed this course, a variety of options will be available to you.

You may gain employment in beauty salons in a variety of locations and environments including Health Farms; Cruise Liners; Mobile Therapy or progression onto Holistic Therapies.

You may also further your studies in this area of work by progressing onto Spa Therapies Level 3 or Level 3 Nail Services.

Entry Requirement:
Learners will be accepted on to the programme after a successful interview. Potential learners should have a good general education and four GCSE grade D or above (one of which must be English) or NVQ level 1 in Beauty Therapy with the relevant English key skill qualification.
