City & Guilds NVQ in Gas Installation and Maintenance
The Gas Installation and Maintenance NVQ is a qualification designed primarily for new and recent entrants to the Gas Industry. It is achieved by building a portfolio of work carried out in a variety of specific gas areas, which is verified by WLT assessors via on-site assessments.
There is no time-limit for completion of an NVQ, however all candidates must either have completed or be currently undertaking training for the Technical Certificate which runs one day per week over 48 weeks.
All candidates will need to gain relevant on-the-job experience under supervision of a CORGI registered installer in order to produce the evidence required for their portfolio. Since on-site assessment is a requirement for the work-based portfolio of evidence, the NVQ cannot be achieved without employment/work experience with a CORGI registered company or installer.
On completion of the course, candidates should be at a level of competence to undertake their Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) Core Domestic Gas Safety assessment, including any appliance related appliances work this requires. The ACS assessments not included in this training course. Candidates must meet current CORGI requirements to gain CORGI registration.
