The qualification provides individuals with an opportunity to demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed for a career as a Housekeeper within the industry, although the qualification is flexible enough to allow cleaning staff such as those working in an office environment to achieve the award too.

Training Methods
The programme is predominantly work-based, with additional
knowledge sessions, including regular reviews containing activity
planning and target setting by a visiting training consultant.
Course Syllabus
To gain the full qualification candidates are required to complete 8 units – 6 mandatory units, plus a further 3 of the optional units as detailed below.
Mandatory Units
• Maintain a safe and secure working environment
• Create and maintain effective working relationships
• Customer care skills
• Clean and service a range of areas
• Work using different chemicals and equipment
• Maintain housekeeping supplies
Optional Units A –minimum of 2 units
• Clean and protect hard and semi-hard floor surfaces
• Clean carpets and soft furnishings
• Provide a linen service
Optional Units B – minimum of 1 unit
• Prepare beds and handle linen and bed coverings
• Prepare, service and clear function rooms
• Clean windows, glass and façade surfaces of building
Assessment Method
In order to achieve any unit, candidates must demonstrate that they meet the relevant stated outcomes and demonstrate the required knowledge and understanding. This will be achieved through a balance of observations carried out by the training consultant and workplace evidence produced by the candidate. This balance of observation and work product will be agreed between the training consultant and candidate prior to assessment.
Duration: 6 – 9 Months.
