NVQ Level 2
Introduction
This qualification is designed to equip you with the skills to develop a career within the nail industry as a nail technician.
Course Content
This is a nationally recognised qualification awarded through VTCT (Vocational Training Charitable Trust). It is designed to lead into a career as a nail technician.
The course is run as a full time programme of study over one year and consists of the following units:
Mandatory (all must be completed)
G1 Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
G6 Promote additional products or services to clients
G8 Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
BT7 Provide manicure treatment
BT8 Provide pedicure treatment
BT13 Provide nail art service
BT44 Extend, maintain and repair nails
Plus one optional unit to include one of the following:
G4 Fulfil salon reception duties
BT6 Remove hair using waxing tecniques
Key skills are an integrated part of this programme of study - Communication, IT, AON
Entry Requirements
Students are selected by interview. Two GCSE grades C or above including English language. It is expected that students are enthusiastic and interested in the subject, possess good communication skills and have a friendly caring manner.
Duration
The course is run as a full time programme of study over 1 year
Assessment
After initial delivery of the units there is continual assessment of practical skills with oral questions and homework tasks which form the basis for a completed portfolio of evidence together with externally set end test papers.
Progression
On completion of this course students can progress onto other courses within the field and/or advanced nail techniques.
