Description of the Course
This course applies to anyone who provides direct support for teaching & learning in any type of school - primary, secondary, special or pupil referral units.It has been developed to reflect changes in support staff roles following implementation of workforce reform. It covers the role of teaching assistant, but has been broadened in scope to include new roles & responsibilities such as cover supervision, exam invigilation & pastoral care.
Course content
This Level 2 qualification requires candidates to achieve five mandatory & two optional units.
Assessment
Observations in the workplace and completion of a portfolio of work-based evidence.
Who is the course for?
This course is for learning & support staff working in a school, either employed or as a volunteer.
Entry requirements
An average of Grade D for 4 or more GCSEs or equivalent. You may also be asked to demonstrate your commitment & skills in an interview. Candidates will need to be working in a school for at least 9 hours per week and will be legally required to undergo identity & criminal record checks.
