A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) is a qualification that recognises the competence of a person in a work situation. Unlike traditional qualifications that rely on teaching and examinations, NVQs use performance on the job as a basis for assessment.
The Level 3 NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety is suitable for those whose role includes the area of general health and safety practice. All such practitioners are involved in the assessment of risks, the identification of hazards and determining strategies for control.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification; however candidates must be in a role that allows them to collect evidence that they meet the standards set-out.
The qualification is highly flexible and can be completed in a time period to suit candidates – normally this will be around six months but depends upon the amount of time each candidate can contribute.
