The NVQ Level 4 in Children´s Care, Learning and Development course aims are twofold, firstly and most importantly children´s care, learning and development are vastly improved and secondly, candidates gain a wide range of new skills, a nationally recognised qualification and the possibility to move into areas such as a: Manager in a Children´s Centre Senior Nursery Practitioner. Suitable for: Managers or lead/senior practitioners, peripatetic advisors and support workers in settings or services whose main purpose is children´s care learning and development. Learners have to be at least 18 years old and have significant experience in an Early Years setting or hold a relevant Level 3 qualification.

How does it work

This NVQ Level 4 qualification is a nationally recognised qualification which the Government recommends for all those working as managers, proprietors or supervisors in children´s nurseries and pre-schools. Students must hold an NVQ Children´s, Care, Learning and Development Level 3 or equivalent qualification.

The NVQ Level 4 in Children´s Care, Learning and Development course is competence based and depends on the student being in an appropriate work setting to carry out management responsibilities and to be assessed in that role. You will cover four mandatory units and five optional units. The following modules are mandatory:

  • Establish and develop working relationships
  • Policies, procedures and practice to safeguard children
  • Promotion of children´s development
  • Reflect on and develop own practice
