The Support Services in Health Care NVQ Level 2 course is aimed at individuals who are currently working in a support service in healthcare environment in job roles such as Housekeeping/Domestic, Portering/Security, Postal, Transport, Catering, Laundry and Administration. National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) in Support Services in Healthcare are nationally recognised qualifications which show that individuals have the necessary practical skills and knowledge for the industry. Assessment takes place in the workplace at flexible times to suit both the learner and employer. Funding is available for this Support Services in Health Care NVQ via Train to Gain to those that meet eligibility criteria.

How are NVQs assessed?
NVQ assessments ensure that candidates are competent within their workplace. Staff will be observed and assessed on what they actually do at work. Previous experience, if they have any, will also be taken into account.
Candidates present evidence taken from the everyday jobs they do and are assessed by a trained assessor who is experienced in their area of work. All assessments are carried out to national standards and candidates will always get feedback from their assessor on their performance.
How are these NVQs structured?
Each of the levels is made up of a number of compulsory units; some also have optional units which allow individuals to choose those most relevant to their area of work. An NVQ is awarded on completion of all the units necessary for a particular level.
