Occupational Health and Safety NVQ Level 4

Course 124 - S/NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety:
Level IV City and Guilds Certification

• Identify and deal with significant hazards and complex risks and implement safe systems of work
• Generally, promote a positive health and safety culture
• Improve communication and IT skills
• Demonstrate they have the knowledge to do their work effectively and efficiently
• Demonstrate they have the necessary practical skills to do their work effectively and efficiently
• Become an appointed competent person, possibly leading to corporate membership of IOSH.

This qualification is designed for candidates who provide health and safety assistance in an organisation with significant hazards and complex risks. Their normal duties would be to promote health and safety by the setting up of safe systems and developing a safety policy to comply with their company's legislative obligations.
It is anticipated this VQ should take around 12 - 24 months to complete.

Develop and implement reactive monitoring systems for health and safety

Develop and implement health and safety emergency response systems and procedures

Develop and implement health and safety review systems

Develop and implement health and safety audit systems

Demonstration of skill, knowledge and understanding to the standard specified by the performance criteria of each unit of the NVQ. This can be achieved through gathering evidence, portfolio building, witness testimonies and questioning.

City & Guilds Certificate Level IV of Occupational Health & Safety.

May also form part of Modern Apprenticeship.
