What is the Assessment Method?

Assessment is by collection of evidence through different methods such as observation, professional discussion, questioning candidate, examination of work product, etc.

What is the course about?

This course is about supporting candidates to manage and deliver physical, emotional or enable care to clients/service users.
How will the course be taught?

There will be both theoretical in-put and work place observation.

- Candidates are expected to seek support, advice and assistance if they are unclearabout what to do.

- Candidates are required to build portfolios and complete the Cumulative

- Assessment Record (CAR).

- There is equality access for candidates regardless of work setting and patterns of work.

Candidates are enabled and supported to undertake this qualification. Additionally, needs of under-represented groups are addressed, including specific needs in relation to candidates from ethnic minority communities, experiencing disability, experiencing sensory impairment.

What is the next step?

Upon completion of the course successful candidates can go on to OCR Registered Manager Award (Adult).

Are there any specific requirements?

- You must demonstrate that you have the skills, knowledge and understanding to the necessary standard.

- You must be working in a care environment or employed as a carer

- You must be in a real work situation, either as a full-time or part-time employee, voluntary work or work carried out when on work placement.

- To gain the full qualifications candidates must achieve 8 units made up of 4 core units (including the choice of specialist route) and 4 optional units.

- You must achieve the level of competence described in the NVQ units of competence.

- You could also undertake additional units, although these are not required to complete the qualification.
