OCR Text Processing Tutor

Course programme

This course is suitable for those who wish to pass OCR examinations in word processing and/or text production. You will be supplied with comprehensive training materials, (which also include exercises). Sets of assessment papers will also be supplied for you to complete and return for marking. Your marked work is returned to you with feedback and instructions as to how to proceed. We provide additional help and support you might require through telephone and/or email.

Pre-requisites: you should be able to type at about 30 words per minute and be a reasonably proficient user of a suitable word processing application such as microsoft word version 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013 (or similar).

Course content: The course involves typing, word processing and printing a variety of business documents including, letters, reports and memoranda. It also includes learning abbreviations and presentation techniques, inserting headers and footers, moving and copying text, emphasising text, changing the line length and dealing with a distraction. The course also covers the use of tables and pictures in ocr examinations.

Students have the option of studying towards the OCR level 2 Award, OCR level 2 Certificate or OCR level 2 Diploma. It is possible to start off by studying at Award level and then later upgrade to Certificate or to Diploma level.
