Syllabus
There is no dissertation/thesis as the MSc is made up entirely of 12 taught modules as follows:
Year 1 (Certificate)
Year 2 (Diploma)
Year 3 (MSc)
The maximum period allowed to study the full MSc is 6 years. This allows for temporary gaps in studies due to the student's other commitments, or possibly to embark on the entire programme only one module at a time. Certain modules are also available as one-off CPD courses. To maintain relevance as Industry priorities change the 12 modules making up this programme are also subject to change.
Assessment
This programme is assessed by a combination of continual assessment and written examination.
Teaching
Class interaction with each other, and with the tutor, is via module-specific online discussion boards and email. To sustain a good teaching experience and ensure good access to, and feedback from, the Industry-based tutors especially, places on the programme are limited.
Exit Points
It is possible to leave the programme after 4 successful modules and to obtain a Postgraduate Certificate in Oil and Gas Structural Engineering, or after 8 modules to obtain a Post Graduate Diploma in Oil and Gas Structural Engineering.
