To provide delegates with a general understanding of the skills and knowledge required by a Safety Representative. To effectively represent their constituents in negotiation with management regarding occupational Health & Safety matters.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course delegates should be able to:
- Explain the basic principles of Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare both on-site and in the workplace as governed by the relevant statutory requirements.
- Explain the role of the safety representative as laid down in The (Safety Representatives and Safety Committees) Regulations 1989.
- Explain the role of Safety Committees as laid down in the (Safety Representatives and Safety Committees) Regulations 1989.
- Apply the general principles of risk assessment as a preventative measure when implementing a variety of safety inspection techniques.
- Describe the processes of accident and complaint investigations and there applications.
- Interpret how all relevant legislation can be used by the Safety Representative in the reporting of hazards to management.
- Understand the importance of effective Safety Management and the systems to measure performance.
