Two day workshop
This two day course aims to give the physiotherapist an introduction into the rehabilitation process of the lower limb amputee.
The course includes theory and practice, and on the first day, delegates will be given an insight into some of the implications to the amputee of wearing, or not wearing, prostheses.
They will be taught the physiotherapy management relating to the early, pre-prosthetic phase, have the opportunity to gain experience in the function and use of Early Walking Aids.
Pain management is the final lecture, and a question and answer session concludes the first day.
The second day starts with lectures introducing physiotherapists to the subject of Prosthetics, and on Normal Locomotion and how to establish prosthetic gait patterns.
The rest of the day is mainly practical, with PowerPoint presentations, on how physiotherapists can work in the field of prosthetics in a very positive way, and how problem solving, with the patient and the prosthetist, can be used to establish the best possible use of the prosthesis.
