Introduction
The value of oxygen in the first aid treatment of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, hypoxia, lung disease, major trauma and decompression sickness is well established.
Aims:
By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
  • Understand size and colour coding of various oxygen cylinders
  • Understand volume and pressure of oxygen cylinders
  • Know the effects of oxygen in the presence of fire
  • Work out how various concentrations are achieved using the equipment
  • How to calculate the running time of a cylinder
  • Recognise the clinical signs of hypoxia and cyanosis
  • Assess illness and injuries requiring oxygen administration
  • Give effective treatment to a cUnderstand size and colour coding of various oxygenasualty requiring oxygen
