Why study this course In the Foundation year you will study three days per week. The focus will be on academic writing skills and numeracy, plus subject-specific content to fully prepare you for entry to an Undergraduate degree. The course embraces practices and ideas aligned to contemporary fine art practice, and broader visual practices as a whole. As well as gaining insights and skills linked to lens-based media you will encounter aesthetic issues, as well as social, environmental, political, and conceptual problems that can be expressed through still and moving image media.

Skills and experience gained By developing an approach to photography and video through ideas-based teaching, students gain skills and confidence to explore creative, editorial and documentary photography. While digital techniques and technical skills in image manipulation, editing and after-effects are important, this course also embraces darkroom photography and places great emphasis on developing personal creativity. After the course Career: Various roles within arts and the creative industries - fine art photographer or film maker, advertising, commercial, studio, editorial or documentary photographer, video production or post-production technician.
