This course is aimed at those who work with children and young people and will provide delegates with life saving skills and how to deal with accidents and illnesses.
Course Content:
The presentation covers the following practical issues: · First Aid Kits
· Reporting Accidents & Incidents
· Your Responsibilities
· Contacting the Emergency Services
· Primary Assessment (Child & Baby)
· Recovery Position
· CPR (Child & Baby)
· Applying a dressing/sling As well as covering many common illnesses/conditions that may affect children and babies including choking, smoke / fume inhalation, asthma, electric shocks, anaphylactic shock, shock, wounds & bleeding, burns, concussion, cerebral compression & skull fractures, fainting, febrile seizures, epilepsy, diabetes, fractures, spinal injury, dislocations, soft tissue injuries, eye injuries, bites & stings, poisoning, meningitis, effects of heat & cold and croup.
Benefits of the Course:
At the end of the course, candidates will be able to assess, treat and follow up situations covered in the course content.
Duration:
The duration of the course is 14 hours and is run over 2 days. We usually aim to start the course at 9.30am and therefore taking into account time for refreshment and lunch breaks, the course usually finishes around 4.30pm.
Assessment:
After completing a final assessment successful candidates receive a certificate valid for three years.
