Description

Candidates will learn about and be able to act correctly in a situation where the following are required: Priorities and planning for first aid emergencies. Resuscitation. Choking. Shock. Electric shock. Anaphylactic shock. Bleeding. Burns and Scalds. Fractures. Head, Neck & Back injuries. Poisoning. Embedded objects in eyes, ears and nose. Eye injuries. Bites and stings. Effects of heat and cold. Febrile convulsions. Chronic medical conditions including asthma, diabetes, sickle cell and meningitis. Contents of a first aid box. Recording of accidents at work.
Suitable for: Those workers who look after children under 5 years of age such as child minders, play-group staff, nursery and school staff, nannies, au pairs etc.

Important information

Requirements: Candidates are required to be physically fit , and remain calm in an emergency

Successful candidates will receive the Paediatric First Aid certificate valid for three years.

Course programme

This course is in line with the statutory framework for the early years foundation (EYFS) an is designed to meet the requirements of OfSTED and SURESTART. It provides specific training for those who look after the under 5's. It is designed on the latest guidelines issued in October 2009. Continual assessment by course tutor. Re-qualification is gained by attending a further 12 hour paediatric first aid course
