Assess emergency situations and carry out appropriate action including informing emergency services. CPR on infants, children & adults. Clear obstructed airways in infants, children & adults. Control severe bleeding.Recognise a range of childhood illnesses & deal with appropriately.Deal with burns & scalds. Understand the requirements of a first aid kit. Be able to report incidents & accidents in accordance with the PSLA/NCMA guidelines.Understand the principles of good practice in the admin. Suitable for: All individuals working with children; Childminders, pre-school staff, au pairs etc

This course is for any one who has the responsibility for looking after children in a professional capacity, i.e., childminders, pre-school staff, au pairs etc. The course is accepted by OFSTED and approved by the Paediatric First Aid Association (PFAA)

- Assessing the casualty (all ages) & situation
- The unconscious casualty all ages
- Choking all ages
- Resuscitation all ages
- Shock (including bleeding, anaphylaxis, diabetes, sickle cell anaemia, Burns Fractures)
- Head injuries including spinal and neck injuries
- Dealing with foreign bodies
- Management of poisoning
- Extremes of temperature
- Seizures including epilepsy and febrile convolutions
- Asthma
- Meningitis and other sudden illness
