Course description
o Aimed at: All those working with children
It is now a requirement for at least one person who has a current Paediatric First Aid Certificate to be on the premises at all times when children are present.
This 12 hour course will assist organisations in meeting the requirements of the HSE Health, Safety and Welfare Team†s directive on Early Years First Aid provision.
Content:
• Emergency planning and assessment
• Prioritising and sending for help
• Resuscitation: child / infant
• Unconsciousness
• Choking allergies, asthma & croup
• Drowning
• Dealing with blood loss and shock
• Eye injuries and embedded objects
• Burns and scalds
• Poisoning
• Breaks, sprains & strains
• Head injuries
• Seizures, heat exhaustion & hypothermia
• Dealing with an unwell child
• Reporting and recording of incidents
• Contents of HSE approved first aid kit

Final award
On successful completion of the course, delegates will be awarded a Paediatric First Aid Certificate which will be valid for 3 years from date of issue
