Painting and Decorating Diploma

The course has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions, and the test(s) are based on the student showing what they can do as an individual through the completion of all the requirement of the qualification. To gain the diploma, students must pass a series of practical assessments covering preparation of surfaces, paint application, wallpapering and specialist decorative finishes. There are also seven multiple choice theory tests corresponding to each unit of the qualification as listed below. The course will enable you to study a wide range of skills, all of which will help you on your chosen career pathway, moving into employment or further training. You will get the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised vocational qualification linked to your chosen career. Also, this programme will help you to improve your English, maths, and ICT, plus develop the personal and social skills which employers look for. You will be given support and guidance throughout your learning journey and your progress will be reviewed with you regularly. Students will complete the following units for both practical and job knowledge: 201: Health, safety and welfare in construction 101: Principles of building, construction, information and communication 116: Erecting and dismantling access equipment and working platforms 117: Preparing surfaces for decoration 118: Applying paint systems by brush and roller 119: Applying foundation and plain papers 120: Producing specialist decorative finishes
