What you need to know
How will I study?

You will cover a range of different practical and theory modules on the course including Brush and Roller Applications, Wallpaper Hanging, safe use of access equipment, Decorative Effects, Construction building and communication Technology and Health & Safety. The course covers the standards as set by the awarding body and training will ensure you have the skills to the level required by industry. We look for real projects for students to work so you can develop your practical skills in practical situations where possible. If you are a full time student aged 16-18 you will follow a study programme which will consist of your main Painting and Decorating course, enterprise and enrichment activities, English and maths as well work experience . Through your tutorial programme you will also develop personal and work related skills which will help prepare you for full time work after you have finished your full time training in college.
How will I be taught?

You will be taught by enthusiastic, friendly staff who have years of experience, both in teaching and in practical painting and decorating. Theory classes are generally classroom based using a range of delivery and activities to suit individual learning needs.
How will I be assessed?

Assessments for theory will be tested with both on line and paper based versions of exams set by the awarding body. You will also complete set practical Assessment tasks for each unit as set out in your portfolio. Practical tests will workshop based to set time scales and specified tolerances.
