Course Level Two

Description
The NVQ Decorative Finishes & Industrial Painting qualification requires you to be employed within the industry undertaking Decorative & Industrial Painting Occupation activities. You will need to provide evidence of competence through activities done in the workplace either by witness testimonies or by direct observation. You are also required to demonstrate a level of understanding which is achieved through a skills match questionnaire. This is completed with your assessor at induction.

9 12 months

What will I study?
The NVQ is made up of 6 mandatory units and a choice of a number of optional units. You will be required to demonstrate competency via assessment in the workplace undertaking specific tasks. You will also be required to demonstrate the relevant level of understanding to support your practical skills. This will be achieved by on site training for a minimum of 15 hours working with your assessor on site in areas required.

Mandatory Units:

Conform to General Workplace Safety
Conform to Efficient Work Practices
Move and Handle Resources
Erect and Dismantle/Working Platforms
Prepare Surfaces for Painting/Decorating
Apply Paint Systems by Brush and Roller

Optional Units: (any one of the following)

Hang Wallcovering (Standard Papers)
Hang Wide-width Vinyls
Install Coving, Centre-pieces and Texture Products
Apply Coatings by the Airless Spray Method
Apply Coating by the Air Spray Method
Produce Broken Colour Work and Basic Stencilling
Produce and apply Complex Stencil Designs


How will I learn?
Your individual learning plan will help you learn in a way that bests suits your needs. You will agree a work programme with your assessor, which will include the setting of individually assessed tasks.

How will I be assessed?
Progressive assessments of all course elements are carried out on an individual basis on site. Assessment will be carried out by your on site assessor or your nominated work based recorder. All assessments contribute towards course units, which will build into certification.

Where could it lead?
The course will provide you with the necessary qualification to apply for a CSCS Health & Safety Card after successfully passing an online Health & Safety Test.
