Course programme
Palliative Care describes the care given to a person with an advanced, life limiting illness, for which there is no cure.
It seeks to support them not only with their physical needs - pain and other distressing symptoms - but also their emotional, social and spiritual needs. It also includes support for relatives and friends, both during the person’s illness and after their death in the form of bereavement care.
Many healthcare workers say that they find it hard to talk about death and dying, or that they don’t feel sufficiently trained to deal with the sensitive and difficult issues that they are confronted with. Hopefully, this course will enhance your confidence and understanding of the topic, and provide you with some of the knowledge and skills required.
