Gearing up your Health and Safety
The Northern Logistics Academy is a logistics and transport training specialist, based in the Northwest of England, delivering sector specific training and qualifications. We are JAUPT approved for the delivery of Driver CPC periodic training courses.
If you drive a lorry, bus or coach as the main part of your job, it is a legal requirement that you must hold the full Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
To gain this you must do either 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years or, 7 hours training per year in order to maintain your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence.

Introduction to Health and Safety in Logistics: an overview of the structure of Health and Safety in Logistics and the responsibilities of different personnel. Information is given on the key Health and Safety legislation in the UK.

Understanding the Key Health and Safety Legislation: identifying the key health and safety legislation in the UK and understand the basics of the Health and Welfare legislation within the Logistics Industry.

Procedures and Equipment Required for a Safe Environment: awareness of relevant Health and Safety requirements, procedures and equipment importance of accident reporting including on site and on the road.

The Hazards you may come Across: the introduction of hazards provides detailed insight into how to reduce the risks of hazards, including the general hazards, hazards whilst driving and the hazards associated with different types of cargo.

Assessing the Risk: a look into the purpose and use of safety equipment and/or clothing to minimise risk in particular tasks and understand the basics of a risk assessment.

Fire and Emergency Procedure and Precautions: an overview of the importance of emergency procedures, focusing on fire precautions and equipment.
