Part Time A1 NVQ Assessor Award
How & what will I learn?
This is not a course but rather a competence assessment for those who are already involved in an NVQ Assessment Centre. You will receive individual coaching and support to put together a portfolio of evidence to prove your competence in NVQ assessment.

Qualifications needed to start
You will need occupational competence, experience and qualifications in the industry area you want to assess in. You need access to two NVQ candidates to work with to gain evidence of assessment using a variety of assessment methods. You will need to provide these candidates.

What qualification will I gain?
The OCR Level 3 Award in Assessing Candidates Using a Range of Methods.

Progression on completion & career opportunities
Once you have had experience of NVQ assessment following accreditation you can become the Quality Manager of an NVQ programme and work towards gaining the NVQ Level 4 V1 Award, once you have been assessing for a minimum of 6 months to one year. You will also be able to work either on an employed or self-employed basis.

Will I have to take an exam?
No. Assessment methods include product evidence placed in a portfolio, observation, questioning and professional discussion carried out by a Primary Assessor and an Independent Assessor.

How long does the course last?
It usually takes about 4 to 6 months to gain competence in NVQ Assessment. There are 5 workshops you will need to attend and then assessment is conducted on a one to one basis with your assessor. Some workshops run on an evening and in special circumstances the award can be delivered on a one-to-one basis.

What will it cost?
£325 tuition fee + registration and certification fee. (Tuition fees can be waived if you are on certain benefits or job seekers allowance)
