About this course

This is an advanced level course for students who have previously taken AAT Intermediate level. Exceptional students who do not possess the Intermediate level but feel that their previous accounting experience will enable them to study at technician level, may join the course but an interview must be requested prior to enrolment.

Course description
This high level Accounting course completes the internationally recognised AAT Qualification. It covers all the Technician level core units: Management of Performance and Enhancement of Value, Contribute to the Planning and Control of Resources, Manage Systems and People in the Accounting Environment, Draft Financial Statements. Plus the options: Prepare Personal Tax Computations and Cash Management and Credit Control. Requirement for direct entry at this level, AAT Intermediate or equivalent Accounting
qualification or exceptionally, relevant work experience. Part day/evening attendance is possible as is a January start. Course fees include textbooks and skills tests but do not include AAT membership and exam fees which are payable direct to AAT.

Final award
Assessment takes place throughout the year. Some units require the compilation of work based evidence or college assessed simulations, others require students to sit exams set and marked by the AAT. Exams are taken in December and June. On successful completion of the course an NVQ4 Accounting certificate will be awarded by the AAT and students with appropriate work experience will be able to become members of the AAT. More detailed information on assessment can be obtained from the tutor.

Career steps
The Association of Accounting Technicians qualification provides an opportunity for those working in accounting to gain knowledge, practical experience and certification. On successful completion of the course students can progress to the ACCA or apply to University.

Homework will be set every week, the amount of time needed will vary depending on the students ability, previous knowledge and speed of working. On average between 3 to 5 hours should be allowed for this.
