Entry Requirements
Candidates must have completed a Level 3 Counselling Skills qualification, or be able to provide evidence of having met equivalent standard elsewhere (you must have completed 150 hours of counselling skills training).

All applicants will need to attend an informal interview.

The Diploma is designed for those who are seeking to become professional qualified counsellors and will further develop counselling skills and interventions working with an integrative model.

Course Content

The course is delivered with an experimental approach and will include the followings units:

· Counselling in a Diverse Society

· Counselling Theory

· Advanced Counselling Skills

· Self Awareness

· Counselling Specialisms and Counselling Placement.

Method of Assessment
1. Four Essays

a) Professional Issues

b) Diversity

c) Counselling Theory

d) Self Awareness

2. 30 minutes taped skills session and case study.

3. Group presentation and project report re: Counselling Specialisms.

External assessment

Portfolio evidence of 100 hour Counselling Placement, including placement supervisor's report. 80% Attendance is required to complete this qualification.

Progression

Higher Education (for example Masters Degree). Employment as a trained counsellor or in an environment working with counselling skills.
