Course Overview This is a professional qualification for those looking to gain accountancy related employment or for anyone requiring a more indepth knowledge of accounts, or to formalise existing knowledge. The course has a flexible delivery and combinations of day/evening are possible. A minimum of 90% of attendance is required for this course.
Qualification gained: AAT Technician Level in Accountancy (NVQ 4)
Course Content: Students learn how to draft financial statements for limited companies, perform complex management accounting tasks and develop their own management skills. As a part of selection from the optional units, students are offered units for personal taxation and cash management. Apart from the taught modules, students have to complete a project (either a live workplace based project or based on a centre provided casestudy) to gain full qualification.
Work Experience: Although it is not compulsory, it is an advantage to be working or to have worked in an accounting environment.
Course Assessment: There are four, three hour external exams - two in December and two in June, an internal assessment and a project.
Progression: Further related study and enhanced employment opportunities within this area, with certain exemptions for CIMA and ACCA
Homework: Approximately five to six hours a week. In addition, students can expect to spend about 30 hours during the entire academic term for preparation of their Project Report. Independent study by way of homework is an esssential and integral part of this course.
Additional Costs: The following costs are payable directly to AAT- Annual Membership fee 69 plus a one off Admission fee of 32. Exam fees payable in October (86) and in March (86). Books are approximately 70.
