Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, however learners would benefit from a general level of education at Level 1 (NVQ1/GCSEs grades D-G) or above.

Suitable For

This qualification is designed for those employed in an adult care setting who require formal training and a qualification in the safe handing and managing of medicines. It develops the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to carry out this work-related support role. It is based on the Health & Social Care Level 2 Occupational Standards to meet strict employment regulations and regulatory guidelines.

Course Content

This qualification aims to provide you with the essential underpinning knowledge and skills required to safely handle and assist in the administration of medicines.

There are three mandatory units:

• Unit 1: An introduction to medicines in a care setting
• Unit 2: Receiving, storing & disposing of medicines in a care setting
• Unit 3: Administering medicines in a care setting.

Method of Assessment

Learners will be assessed via:

• Coursework
• Practical demonstration
• Assignment.
