ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants will have met one of the following entry requirements:

The achievement of a minimum of 80 UCAS points from AS/A level, ASVCE/AVCE (vocational AS/A level and Double Award), BTEC National Award/Certificate/Diploma award(s) in Business or related subjects and Key Skills awards; or
Access award; or

Applicants will also need to provide evidence of English Language and Mathematics skills as demonstrated by:

A pass in English Language and Mathematics at GCSE, grade C or above; or
A minimum level 2 in Communications and Application of Number Key Skills or equivalent.

Applicants whose qualifications do not conform to the standard entry requirements detailed above will be considered on merit. Relevant experience will be taken into account and full recognition will also be given to the principle of Accreditation of Prior (Experiential) Learning AP(E)L.
PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
What can I expect on the course?
This is a vocational business Degree designed to meet your educational and skills needs for employment. Year 1 will provide you with a foundation in key aspects of business. From the second year full-time or third year part-time, there is the opportunity to take option modules in specific areas
of business interest and thus to study for one of the combined pathways. The final year includes core modules in Corporate
Strategy and Change Management, with the opportunity to complete a project in a business-related area of interest.

How is the course structured?
The Degree is modular with four subjects taken per semester on the full-time route and two or three subjects studied on
the part-time equivalent per semester. Modules are delivered using a combination of lectures and seminars, together with opportunities for individual and group work and individual tutorials.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed in variety of ways including presentations, written essays and reports and examinations.

The part-time course is offered on the basis of at least one day or two evenings per week for a period of four to five years.
In Years 1 and 2 you will develop a comprehensive understanding of core business disciplines including people management, finance and marketing.

In years 3 and 4 there is the opportunity to choose from a range of optional subjects which are studied alongside the core modules of Corporate Strategy and Change Management.
If you already have a recognised HNC or HND qualification in Business it is possible to top-up to a full BA (Hons)
Degree in a period of normally one year full-time or two to three years part-time. The top-up course includes the core
modules of Corporate Strategy and Change Management, together with the opportunity to choose from a range of optional subjects including a business project.

The following pathways are taught by practicing professionals who regularly contribute to the ongoing development
of the syllabus and curriculum.

Accounting
This pathway is for those with an interest in combining studies in Business with Accounting, it is possible to take
modules in Accounting for Business and Cost and Management Accounting in the second year. Financial Accounting
and Management Accounting for Business Decisions are then studied in the final year, together with a project
in accounting.

Human Resource Management (HRM)
This pathway is for those with an interest in combining studies in Business with HRM, it is possible to take modules in Employee
Resourcing and Employment Law in the second year. Employee Relations and Strategic HRM are then studied in the final
year, together with a project in HRM.

Legal Studies
This pathway is for those with an interest in combining studies in Business with Legal Studies, it is possible to take modules
in Commercial Law and Employment Law in the second year. Company Law and Contract Law are then studied in the final
year, together with a project in law.

Management
This pathway is for those with an interest in combining studies in Business with Management, it is possible to take
modules in Retail Management and Small Business Management in the second year. International Management and
Change Management are then studied in the final year, together with a project in management.

Marketing
For those with an interest in combining studies in Business with Marketing it is possible to take modules in
Retail Management and Marketing Research in the second year. Marketing Communications Strategy and International Marketing are then studied in the final year, together with a project in Marketing.
