PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
What can I expect on the course?
The course is designed to develop the necessary skills for a career in the entertainment industry, developing the skills associated with design and craft for production, set, costume and lighting in general terms for theatre, film and television and associated industries. You can therefore expect to be introduced, through experience and teaching, to a
range of skills relevant to design, craft and the business of creative theatre and film. You will develop this into areas of personal interest and eventually specialise in one or more of the design and or craft areas which make up the discipline: set, costume and make-up, and lighting and sound.

How is the course structured?
The course has a modular structure. There are eight standard modules per academic year. Each module covers a specific area of learning, such as production and performance for example.
Increasingly complex module briefs are presented throughout the course; the first year presents fundamental studies, the second towards professional practice and the third research, practice and development.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is an important part of learning and so we use a variety of assessment methods, such as verbal and visual presentation of practical work and submission of reports and diaries. We use formative assessment to give feedback when you need it during your project, and summative assessment or final feedback followed by a mark and grade to help you in your next project.

What are the career opportunities?
The course offers training in the practical creative areas of theatre and film production and this will make it possible
for you to enter a number of associated industries (such as TV, event management, promotion) across set and props, costume

There are three option pathways within the Honours Degree course which can be followed from the beginning of the course.
The following pathways are taught by practising professionals who regularly contribute to the ongoing development
of the syllabus and curriculum.
