If you are interested in learning the basic skills in Brickwork and obtaining a Level 1 City & Guilds Certificate, this course is suitable for you. It's an excellent starting point, introducing you to the basic skills required by a Bricklayer before you progress to a higher level. Our staff, are highly qualified and experienced in Brickwork and Construction techniques, and look forward to welcoming you onto the course.
What will I learn?
You will learn the basics of the tools, equipment and materials (induction), before you progress onto the award for the certificate. You will need to complete a series of practical activities, covering: - Mandatory Units / Tasks: * Half brick walls * One brick wall * Timber Framed Construction * Block wall * Cavity wall with recess * Cavity wall with stone lintel * Brickwork and Blockwork gable * Walling on stepped foundations plus any two optional units / tasks within the City & Guilds work book.
How will I be assessed?
You will cover all the necessary knowledge, enabling you to progress through the programme. Your progress will be continually assessed and you will be given instant feedback from your lecturer, ensuring that your skills and knowledge are developing. You will also be encouraged to assess your own work, this will indicate your strengths and areas for development, helping improve your understanding and practical skills.
