You must be working within the Brickwork industry and possess a Level 2 qualification in Brickwork to be eligible to study for the NVQ 3 in Brickwork.

Is this course right for me?

If you are working in the Brickwork trade you will benefit from this practical and challenging course which will provide you with an opportunity of further improving their skills and knowledge.

What will I be learning?

The units of study you will undertake will be selected from the following: confirm work activities and resources for work, develop and maintain good working relationships, confirm the occupational method of work, conforming to general workplace safety, moving and handling resources,erect masonry structures, set out masonry structures,set out complex masonry structures and erect complex masonry details. Plus one optional unit to be agreed with your assessor.

The course is aimed at people working within the Brickwork industry who wish to gain a nationally recognised qualification as evidence of their advanced level of competence.

How will I learn?

You will need to complete practical assignments, theoretical tests, a portfolio of work-based evidence and a Health and Safety test. A suitably experienced person is required at your place of work and a college work-based assessor will record your progress on site.

What else might I want to know?

You will need to provide your own protective clothing, footwear, textbooks and stationery. All other personal protective equipment will be provided.

What can I do afterwards?

Learners will increase their employment and/or self employment prospects and could progress onto Higher Education such as the Higher National Certificate in Construction at South Devon College.
