Is it right for me?
National Proficiency Test Council (NPTC) offer a full range of courses aimed at the professional operator. This two day course in the use of brushwood cutters and strimmers will bring you up to the standard required to take the NPTC module A012 in brushwood cutters and strimmers.

What qualifications will I need?
Minimum age 16 years. Tetanus protection is recommended.

What will I be learning about?
  • Safety factors
  • Machine servicing
  • Fitting a new recoil starter cord
  • Sharpening a cutter knife
  • Replace nylon cords
  • Methods of operating saws
  • Adjusting a harness
  • Maximum blade speeds

What is involved?
Two days training and one two hour assessment.

What materials are required?
Steel toe'capped safety boots and old clothes. Basic stationery and writing materials.
PLEASE NOTE: All students must bring a passport size photograph on the first day of their course and their national insurance number.

What is next?
Service your Garden Machinery.
Certificate of Competence in Brushwood Chipper Operations.
Chainsaw courses (City & Guilds or LANTRA).

How will I be assessed?
By NPTC, within 3 to 4 weeks later at Kingston Maurward College.
