Part-Time BSc (Hons) MEDICINAL HORTICULTURE

With an increased awareness surrounding the health giving properties of fruit and vegetables, and the main stream phenomenon of herbal medicines, this programme provides students with in-depth knowledge and practical skils in plant propagation and production. You will focus on plants with medicinal properties and gain an understanding of a variety of horticultural practices. This knowledge is supported by the science of growing to maximise production, the chemical skills to extract and analyse plant compounds and the application to the human body.

The final year includes the study of ethobotany, ethics and professional practice and crop production technologies, as well as a research project.

Entry Requirements

160 UCAS points: 2 A levels at Grade C or above or a National Diploma at PMM or equivalent in appropriate subjects.

Assessment Method
Coursework (assignments, written reports, case studies and presentations) as well as final examinations.

Progression Routes
Successful students may progress onto a related MSc or PhD programme. Alternatively, a degree in Medicinal Horticulture opens up many career opportunities within the production, marketing, international trade and associated sectors.
