BTEC is designed to equip you with the practical skills, knowledge and understanding required for employment in a range of vehicle and maintenance repair occupations in the Automotive Industry.

The course is a 9-unit qualification made up of three core units and six specialist units.

Core Units: Vehicle Electronics, Operation of Vehicle Systems, Vehicle Fault Diagnosis and Rectification.

Example of Specialist Units: Application of Vehicle Science and Mathematics, Vehicle Engine Management Systems , Vehicle Electrical and Electronic Principles, Petrol Injection Systems for S.I. Engines, Operation and Testing of Vehicle Electronic Ignition Systems, Light Vehicle Transmission Systems, Vehicle Electronic Ancillary and Information Systems, Light Vehicle Suspension, Steering and Braking Systems.

Further Study/Employment
HNC in Automotive Engineering; career in a brand dealership, mechanical repair and motor sport. Motor Vehicle Technicians regularly move into senior positions in national/international organisations.
