Course Description:
- to provide preparation for a range of technical and management careers in engineering
- to provide specialized studies which are directly relevant to individual vocations and professions in which students are currently working or in which they intend to seek employment
- to enable students to make an immediate contribution in employment
- to provide a local progression route for students from National level programmes
- to meet part of the academic requirements of the Institute of Engineering Technology for Incorporated Engineer status
Programme Content
Successful applicants will study five core units common to all BTEC Electrical/Electronic Engineering Higher National programmes, and a set of four pathway units from Electronic or Electrical Engineering. On completion of the HNC, students may re-register to complete a further six units for an HND. Pathway and HND course availability is dependant on viable student numbers.

Entry Requirements
Assessment and Progression:
The student will be assessed through assignments, practical work, progress tests, presentations and case studies. The college is committed to maintaining an electronic individual learning plan (EILP).
Progression
All of the units in the HNC programme can be used on the HND programme. The HNC and HND may also count as credit on a Degree programme at another HE institution.

Fees:
The cost of the HNC course includes a BTEC Registration Fee (valid for five years). Course fees will cover all tuition, course materials and college administration, apart from books and project costs. Progression to HND requires re-registration with BTEC. Finance for part-time study may be available based on a means test. (Look for details below.)
