Candidates must be in possession of one of the following pre-requisites: * At least four GCSEs at grades A-C (to include Science, Maths and English) * An EDEXCEL (BTEC) First Diploma in a related subject * Appropriate knowledge and/or experience gained from work or from other related qualifications such as an NVQ Level 3 in a building craft area.

Course Details
The Construction Industry Within the sphere of design, construction, maintenance and the use of buildings, a considerable input is that of the work of the Building Technician. Building Technicians work on both the pre-contract and post-contract side of development. Many organisations employ Technicians to manage the day to day maintenance of their estates. Technicians have duties in the following areas: Planning Design Quantity Surveying Estimating Site Management Quality Control Cost Control Maintenance and several more Day release route. The course consists of two years with six units normally studied each year. Year 1: BTEC National Award in Construction: Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction and the Built Environment Construction and the environment Construction science materials in Construction and the Built Environment Construction Technology and Design in Construction and the Built Environment Graphical Detailing in Construction and the Built Environment Surveying in Construction and Civil Engineering. Year 2: BTEC National Certificate in Construction: Mathematics in Construction and the Built Environment Planning, Organisation and Control of Resources in Construction and the Built Environment Building Technology in Construction Building Surveying in Construction Measuring, Estimating and Tendering Processes in Construction and the Built Environment Building Regulations and Control in Construction Assessment All units are assessed, and graded and an overall grade for each qualification is awarded.

1 year (day release) BTEC National Award in Construction plus 1 year top-up to BTEC National Certificate in Construction.
