Suitable For

The BTEC National Diploma in Sport (Development, Fitness & Coaching) is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

Course Content

It is equivalent to three A Levels, allowing you when you have finished the course to either get a job or go directly into higher education.

Subjects covered include:

• Body in action
• Fitness testing
• Leadership in sport
• Practical sport studies
• Principles of coaching
• Sport in society
• Sport massage.

You will be required to continue to study English, maths or IT as part of your course.

Method of Assessment

Practical & Written Assignments.

Progression

On completion of this course you can go on to work as a professional in the sport and leisure industry. There is also an opportunity for progression on to the HND in Sport Science at Grantham College or a degree in a related subject.
