ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must attend the Induction and the taught unit classes before an Assessor will be allocated to them for work-based assessment.
PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
This course is a nationally recognised NVQ Level 2 qualification and is for those students who are involved in voluntary work for at least six hours minimum per week in an early years setting, working with babies and children. Students will build evidence of working with children through work-based assessments and portfolio building. Students will be required to attend college workshops regularly to support their portfolio building. Students will also work with an assessor who will plan and carry out assessments in the workplace.

Students will study units including: Support Children's Physical Development Needs, Support Children's Social and Emotional Development, Implement Planned Activities for Sensory and intellectual Development and Maintain the Safety and Security of Children.
PROGRESSION/CAREERS OPPORTUNITIES
On successful completion of this course students can progress into employment and further study at Level 3.
ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE 6 mandatory units and 1 optional unit with workplace assessment, which may be on a voluntary basis for at least 2 full days per week
EXCURSIONS / WORK EXPERIENCE Minimum of 2 days per week in an early years setting
READING LISTS Will be provided at induction
